Learning about democracy
Madurodam supports ProDemos, a foundation that explains how democracy and the rule of law work. Through the educational programme ‘Democracity’, the foundation teaches children in the last two years of primary school (groups 7 and 8) more about democracy in a fun way. This programme is provided at Madurodam.
Learning about democracy in a fun way. That is what children are doing at Madurodam during the programme ‘Democracity’ of ProDemos
Educational programme
‘Democracity’ is an educational programme by ProDemos, in which children make decisions about what should be built in the fictional town of ‘Democracity’ in a democratic way. The lessons are given in the classrooms at Madurodam. After the lesson, children take an interactive tour of the park, to find out what makes the Netherlands special and what role political choices and democratic decisions play in this. This programme fits in well with our charity policy: discovering and developing the talents of children at primary-school age.
